Guerra - Gomez, Elvia (1st)

Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure to welcome your child to our class.  I am looking forward to working with your child this year and helping him/her achieve his/her full potential.  We will work closely together to make first grade a positive experience for your child.  If I can be of any help to you during the school year, please do not hesitate to let me know.  I have included a few classroom topics that I would like for you to become familiar with:

School day/ Attendance7:45 -3:00 Promptness and attendance are very important. If your child becomes ill; please send a written excuse the day your child returns to class.

Homework: Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday to reinforce the skills we are working on in class.  Please remember that it is your child’s responsibility to do the homework, return it to school, and place it in the homework basket.

Homework Folders:  I send papers home daily and weekly in your child’s take-home folder.  Other information from the office may be included.  Please take your time to look through the materials carefully.  I ask that the children keep these folders neat and that they be cleaned out once a week!  Thanks!

Parent/Teacher Relationship:  I believe that a good parent/teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success.  Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, phone calls, newsletters, conferences, and progress reports.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or if a situation requires special attention. My regularly scheduled conference period is from (9:40-10:30a.m).  You may also call me at school (233-6916), send a note, or e-mail me (EGuerra@LFCISD.net).

Transportation: If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides the bus, or if you wish for your child to ride a different bus than usual, you must send a written note or through a personal phone contact.  If no written note or personal phone call has been made to me or the front office by 2:00 p.m. your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation. Please remember this is to assure your child’s safety.  Thanks for your cooperation

The End: In closing, I would like to thank you for your support.  Together, we will have a successful year!  I would also like to suggest that you save this letter for future reference.

Thank you,

 Mrs. E. Guerra-Gomez
