Dr. Dymphna Jewelle Canales is the proud principal of Lopez-Riggins Elementary School, bringing more than 21 years of experience in public education and a commitment to serving the Los Fresnos CISD community.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Canales has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including classroom teacher, Dean of Instruction, and Technology Director. These experiences have provided her with a strong understanding of teaching and learning, instructional leadership, and the effective use of technology to support teacher and student success.

 

Dr. Canales holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Brownsville, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Educational Technology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

 

As principal, Dr. Canales is dedicated to providing a high-quality education in a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Her collaborative leadership style, focus on continuous improvement, and commitment to student-centered practices position Lopez-Riggins Elementary School for continued growth and success.

 

Mrs. Vanessa Rodriguez serves the students at Lopez Riggins Elementary School as Instructional Officer. She has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2016. 

Allicia Saldaña serves the students at Lopez Riggins Elementary School as Assistant Principal. She has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2020. During her career in public education that began in 1999, she has served as a an English teacher, librarian, Dean of Instruction, Curriculum Alignment Specialist, and an Assistant Principal. Mrs. Saldaña has been an assistant principal at Lopez Riggins Elementary School since 2020.

 

Mrs. Saldaña received her Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville. She earned her Masters of Library Science from Texas Women’s University and her Masters of Educational Leadership and Technology from Lamar University.
